Overview

MeetScribe is a Chrome extension that transcribes Google Meet calls in real time and saves the transcript locally on your device. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the extension handles and how.

Data we collect

MeetScribe captures the following data while you are in a Google Meet call:

• Spoken words from the meeting (transcribed from live captions)
• Chat messages sent during the meeting
• Speaker names as shown in Google Meet
• Meeting metadata: title, meeting code, start and end time

This data is stored exclusively in chrome.storage.local — a storage area that exists only on your own device and is never accessible to us or any third party.

Data we do not collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information
• We do not collect passwords or authentication credentials
• We do not collect location data or IP addresses
• We do not track your browsing history
• We do not collect any data outside of active Google Meet sessions

Data sharing

MeetScribe does not transmit any data to any server, and does not sell, share, or transfer your data to any third party under any circumstances.

Data retention and deletion

All transcript data remains on your device for as long as the extension is installed. You can delete individual meetings from within the extension at any time. Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data permanently.

Permissions

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

• storage — to save transcripts locally on your device
• activeTab — to detect when you are on a Google Meet page
• scripting — to read live captions from the Google Meet page
• tabs — to route the toolbar icon correctly across tabs
• host permission for meet.google.com — to operate only on Google Meet pages
